How it works

You do not have to type biometry in. Photograph the IOL calculation printout with a phone, upload a file, or paste copied text. Below is what to press and what happens to the data.

The phone as an IOL calculation printout scanner

Check the values
Values in the form
  1. Press “From your phone”, choose how long the link should live, then press “Connect phone”. A QR code appears.
  2. Point the phone camera at the code. The scanning page opens and remembers the link, so you will not need the code again.
  3. Press “Scan an IOL calculation printout” and aim at the block of measurements. Hold the phone still — the shot is taken for you.
  4. Check what was read. Yellow marks the numbers the program is unsure about — check those against the IOL calculation printout; glance over the rest. Any value can be corrected right there, flagged or not.
  5. If the IOL calculation printout holds both eyes, switch between OD and OS at the top. The “both eyes” box ticks itself.
  6. Press “Send to the calculator”. The numbers appear in the form; a two-eye IOL calculation printout switches the form to “Both eyes” and fills both columns.
  7. On the computer you only pick the lens and calculate. If the wrong values landed, “Restore previous” undoes it.

You can close the phone page and come back: the link lives for as long as you chose. “Disconnect” ends it at once.

A file from the computer: photo, screenshot or PDF

Choose a file
Or drag it in
The browser reads it
Values in the form
  1. Press “Upload an IOL calculation printout image” and pick a photo, screenshot or PDF. You can also drop the file onto the page or paste it (Ctrl+V, Cmd+V on a Mac).
  2. The browser reads it and the file goes nowhere. A PDF from the biometer gives its numbers directly; a scanned PDF is read as an image.
  3. Press “Put into the calculator”. The lens, its constants and the target stay as you set them.

Paste text

  1. Copy a line or a table — say “OD AL 23.45 K1 43.5@10 ACD 3.12” — and paste it into any biometry field.
  2. The numbers sort themselves into the fields. Columns for OD and OS switch the form to “Both eyes” and fill both.
  3. A single value works too: “23,5 mm” becomes 23.5, and “43.5 @ 10” fills both K and its axis.

What stays in the browser

  • The calculation stays while the tab is open. Close it and it is gone, so print or save the PDF first.
  • The “Clear the form” button under “Calculate” clears the biometry, the patient and the refractive history. The lens, its constants, the target and SIA stay: those are your settings, not the patient. Pressed it by mistake? “Restore previous” brings everything back.
  • “Recent lenses” holds the models you calculated with in this browser; one press restores a lens together with its constants. On a shared computer tick “Do not remember lenses on this computer”.
  • Whatever the phone sent and whatever was recognised sits in “Received values”, again only in this browser. “Delete” and “Disconnect” clear it at once; left alone, the values disappear within a day even if the tab stays open.

What the calculator checks for you

  • Once you calculate the fellow eye it is compared with the first. A noticeable difference in AL, mean K or ACD is a reason to make sure it is the right eye.
  • If a radius lands in a K field — 7.8, say — the calculator offers to convert it with 337.5 / r. It never substitutes on its own; you press to accept.

What happens to the data

AL · K · ACD
Server: ciphertext only
Values in the form
  • The photo stays on the phone and the file on the computer: the browser does the reading, not the server.
  • Numbers travel from phone to computer encrypted. The key exists only in the QR code and in the two browsers — your phone and this computer.
  • The calculator never asks for a name or a date of birth. Do not put them in the comment either.
  • Pasted text is not stored: only the numbers are taken from it.
  • Analytics records what was pressed and which range the biometry fell into. The values themselves are not sent. When a lens is entered by hand, its name and constants go along with that.

If something went wrong

  • The link has expired. Press “Connect again” and scan the new code.
  • Nothing arrived: check the network and that the calculator page is open. The phone will offer to send again.
  • Something was read wrong — correct it on the review screen or type the values in.
  • It went to the wrong computer: press “Disconnect” and connect the right one.
  • A formula was skipped: open “Formulas skipped” under the result. Usually LT or the lens constants are missing.
